TV on DVD: Sleeper Cell

Sleeper Cell: Season 2, Episode 1 "Al Baqara" (B+)

Since I am catching up with this show on DVD and would like to give others the same chance to do so, I will write reviews as I do for films, with only limited and minor spoilers necessary to a review. The first season of this show is excellent, and from the looks of it, this season will be just as good, if not better. Highly recommended to check out on DVD. 10 episodes in Season 1, 8 in Season 2.

Season 2 of "Sleeper Cell" is subtitled "American Terror" and rightly so, since the threat comes closer to home for everyone involved. Michael Ealy is back in a very reserved performance as Special Agent Darwyn al-Sayeed, heading undercover again to infiltrate a terrorist cell active in Los Angeles. This premiere is much more solidly on target than last season's, and provides a clearer heading of what direction the show is going. A seemingly peaceful, smooth transition back into the field is marred by a devastating and horrific event, the impact of which is sure to be felt for the remainder of the season.
