What I’m Watching: Rebel

Rebel: Season 1, Episode 4 “The Right Thing” (B)

When it all comes down to it, this show is a soap opera more than anything, which is why the episode ended with two different couples getting hot and heavy and a big revelation that the woman who seemed like the nicest character in the entire hour may be most duplicitous of all. Cruz having to wear a heart rate monitor that started beeping like crazy every time he got agitated, even in court, was far from convenient, and Cassidy working for her father represents such a deep conflict of interest that it’s hard to imagine that she can’t see how wrong it is. Amir was very angry when she showed up with a gloating Luke and ninety-eight boxes of paper discovery, but he appears to have gotten over that given the passion he expressed when he showed up at Cassidy’s at the end of the episode. It was good to see Misha soften a bit while she was working with Helen, though unfortunately her prognosis doesn’t look good. Ziggy’s new boyfriend had no idea what he was in for, but he somehow managed to make a good impression on her parents without even trying. Grady making his own move to force the gouging funeral director to cooperate was a good sign of him caring for Rebel, and their relationship might actually be headed in a good direction now. What they don’t know, of course, is that Angela is working for Mark Duncan, and Rebel did exactly what she wanted by setting her up with Cruz.
