What I’m Watching: Big Sky

Big Sky: Season 1, Episode 14 “Nice Animals” (C+)

We’re still on two completely different threads here, with Cassie and Jenny putting in a lot of mileage driving all through the very large state of Montana trying to stay on top of both. Angela getting killed was yet another sign that they probably shouldn’t continue pursuing this, but that’s definitely only going to encourage Jenny more. Gil wasn’t eager to talk but they pushed him enough to do so, and now we’re about to see even more casualties. The Kleinsasser family dynamic is very volatile, and Margaret promising to kill Horst and then nearly squeezing one of her sons to death at the funeral for another one showed just how ready she is to explode. I’m not sure how that’s all going to end. It’s unbelievable that Ronald has continued to stay one step ahead of both the law and the private investigators hot on his tail, and that Scarlet didn’t find it at all suspicious that he wanted to leave to go camping late at night in his newly-purchased truck. He would have done well to ensure that Mary’s body wasn’t seeping blood inches away from where Scarlet and Phoebe were sleeping, and after managing to hide behind a tree with her body, he’s now going to have a hard time explaining what he’s doing to Phoebe. I knew that the body in the freezer was Phoebe’s father’s, and I imagine that Scarlet might have been considerably more open to being with Ronald if he had told her the truth before he went ahead and killed her sister.

This show has been renewed for a second season, and it still astounds me that we’re only in the first season since this whole new slate of characters has been introduced after half of the cast died or left before its return from hiatus. I’m not sure why, but I’ll probably still be watching.
