What I’m Watching: Tehran

Tehran: Season 2, Episode 4 “The Rich Kids” (B+)

I remember working at a technology company where my colleagues would tell me that they couldn’t watch shows and movies that depicted coding and other computer connections since it was so far from realistic. I’m sure that’s the case here, with Milad being able to change the screensaver of the phone and to monitor the cloning of the phone highly absurd, but that’s something which I’ve chosen to try to ignore in order to enjoy the suspense and intrigue. Tamar managed to develop a good rapport with Peyman and performed very well under pressure when Vahid called his phone and it was in her purse. Faraz and Ali showing up made things much riskier, and she easily could have been spotted had they decided to come inside. But Peyman’s disdain for his father’s attempts to control his life proved to be stronger than their intent to get into the house, and so she managed to escape without any issue. Milad, on the other hand, saw the consequences of his unauthorized actions in the previous episode and has now been arrested thanks to Vahid’s desire to get him out of the picture so that he can develop his own relationship with Tamar. It’s impressive that, even while working with the Mossad, Marjan managed to be an excellent therapist, encouraging Nahid to brave the outside world, achieving an important milestone in her recovery even if it was merely meant as a way to distract Faraz and ensure he didn’t enter the house.
