What I’m Watching: Nikita

Nikita: Season 2, Episode 20 “Shadow Walker” (B)

There’s a reason that only field agents go into the field. Much as Birkhoff wanted to protect his money, it didn’t make much sense for him to go on the mission considering his fumbling around with the gun with Carla. Panicking after Carlo Rota’s Ian Damascus got shot and allowing Nikita to take a bullet proved that he wasn’t up to the task, and he only managed to rectify the situation later by plugging Nikita’s assailant with a whole bevy of bullets. Birkhoff partnering with Nikita did allow for some alone time between Michael and Alex, who were able to have a straightforward conversation, the likes of which they hadn’t before, related to Alex’s romance with Sean and to Nikita and Michael’s relationship. Alex bankrolling the operation while Birkhoff’s funds were out of commission and then handing him a big fat check is quite convenient since the operations this group undertakes are pretty ridiculously expensive. Birkhoff got his spotlight in this hour by hacking in to steal plenty of money and then deeming it necessary to blow up the truck with his money in it so that Percy wouldn’t be able to get his hands on it. Michael saying that he had wished he could see the look on Percy’s face was a reasonable statement given the fury in Percy’s eyes followed by his quick public dismissal of anything being wrong. Something tells me he’s going to be coming for blood after this, and someone is going to pay the price.
