Weeds: Season 8, Episode 6 “Allosaurus Crush Castle” (B+)
It’s no surprise that Nancy would return to drug dealing during her son’s soccer games since that’s just where she started. Kevin Sussman, who played Walter on “Ugly Betty” among other roles, is a great choice to play Terry, who is awkward and unsuspecting yet shockingly well-connected, and extremely committed to honoring his word, getting Nancy a job after she has his monster of a son over for a sleepover. Nancy being involved in the drug business in an entirely legitimate way is a huge development, since she’s a proven excellent seller and now she can do it legally. It’s also good for Silas, since he was going to get himself into more trouble than just having to pretend to be a stripping burglar while breaking into R.J.’s parents’ home. I enjoyed Shane filming a “Occupy Hallway” video with the two boys, clearly still possessing his warped sense of humor, and he’s also manipulating the system to his advantage in a big way, writing other students’ papers for them and then striking another deal with his instructor for an even bigger payday. Jill’s pregnancy isn’t entirely surprising, and it gives Andy a new problem to contemplate. It appears he’s willing to step up to the plate, and Jill’s continued presence suggests that it may actually work out and they could be a functional family. It doesn’t say much for Doug doing much of anything with his life aside from still being a child, but there’s hardly anything new about that.
