What I’m Watching: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Season 1, Episode 16 “Josh’s Sister is Getting Married!” (B)

This show’s grade gets knocked down mainly because neither of the songs were particularly good, with the first, sung by Greg, hardly melodic at all, and the second all about big boobs, far from the most sophisticated concept this show has ever addressed. I had forgotten all about Josh’s family, and what better time for the adoring legion of Rebecca fans to come approach her about being involved in a family wedding than right after she just narrowly escaped awkwardness with Josh after Paula’s meddling got in the way. Agreeing to be a bridesmaid on the condition that Valencia was also included was a mature and smart step, and it’s a shame that Paula had to go ahead and do something crazy since Rebecca had reached a perfect point of friendship with her onetime idol and recent mortal enemy. Josh’s family turned on Rebecca very quickly when she confessed to having posted the photo, which was a miserable moment where she totally fell on her sword. She was right to be furious with Paula for continually interfering in something that only affects her in terms of maintaining their friendship, but the worst side effect was Josh, who got treated coldly by Rebecca when he burst in to find out what had happened. Getting frisky with Greg and promising him several nights of nonstop passion was a nice and unexpected ending, especially after Greg’s failed efforts to help out his new supermarket buddy in the love department, which succeeded only minimally when her dream crush turned out to be a total tool.
