What I’m Watching: The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead: Season 6, Episode 15 “East” (B)

I didn’t even realize that this was the show’s penultimate episode this season, but this show always manages to sneak up in that way, and not a good one, in my opinion. The past two episodes have been intense and pensive, and this one had considerably less action and some worrisome developments that still haven’t given us a glimpse of Negan. Every time a character goes off on their own to seek revenge or solace or something of the sort, people end up getting hurt. In this episode, Carol left, sending Morgan and Rick after her, and Darryl left, resulting in Glenn, Michonne, and Rosita all ending up in peril. The puzzling ending purposely suggested that Darryl got executed by the man he let live who also killed Denise, but I think we all know that a death like that would have been shown on camera, if Glenn’s long survival is any indication. Maggie changing her hair back in Alexandria seems so inconsequential and insignificant by contrast, though I think Glenn is going to live on without a problem even if Alexandria does suffer some major blows when it comes under eventual attack. Morgan and Rick’s conversation was expectedly philosophical, and it seems clear that both of them feel very strongly about their positions, and whatever events occur will only serve to support them and make their resolves stronger. Let’s hope they can be united enough to work together and defeat what may well be the most formidable enemy they’ve faced yet.
