What I’m Watching: Limitless

Limitless: Season 1, Episode 19 “A Dog’s Breakfast” (B+)

After his eventful trip to Russia, Brian’s time at the office has gotten considerably less fun and more supervised. Closing down Headquarters might have stung as much as Brian being put in a cubicle and forced to wear a suit to the office, and it’s very obvious that he isn’t as productive when he’s not having as good a time. Mike and Ike checking carefully to make sure that he has swallowed each pill isn’t so bad, but the fact that they’re no longer his drivers makes his life harder, as does the convenient truth that his new driver/babysitter happens to work for Sands. What we didn’t know is that, while Brian went straight to Morra when he realized that Piper was in danger, it wasn’t Morra at all. The notion of Sands going rogue is worrisome, to be sure, but he’s also far less power-hungry than Morra, and might have just as many objections to Morra’s standard operating procedures as Brian and Paper. In fact, he could make a great ally for Brian if he doesn’t kill him first, and if he hasn’t killed Piper. I like that Boyle came to Rebecca to both voice his disappointment at not being included in her pow-wows with Mike and Ike and to give her the NZT pill he had been holding on to. Boyle has never much liked Brian, but I think he’ll try to figure out what’s best for our resident man-child. Rebecca showing up at his apartment to force him to answer her questions in a nice twist, and I’m eager to see where that goes.
