SAG Nominees: Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 3/5, missing Applegate and O’Hara
Who’s missing? Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Alison Brie (GLOW), Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie), Jane Fonda (Grace and Frankie), Kirsten Dunst (On Becoming a God in Central Florida)

Three of last year’s eligible nominees are out, replaced by the star of one new show and two that haven’t previously been honored by this group. I’m most excited by the inclusion of Christina Applegate (Dead to Me), though I really wish that her costar Linda Cardellini was also getting the credit she deserves. I didn’t even note until now the omission of Louis-Dreyfus in favor of Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), someone whose inclusion surely delights many more than it does me. Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) is a wonderful choice, and she joins Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Alex Borstein (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), who still managed to score a spot despite missing out on a Golden Globe bid yesterday. Everyone but Applegate is also nominated as part of their ensembles.

Who will win? I think this goes to Waller-Bridge.
