What I’m Watching: Resident Alien

Resident Alien: Season 2, Episode 3 “Girls’ Night” (B+)

I saw ahead of this episode that Alex Borstein, the two-time Emmy-winning star of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” would be appearing, and I wasn’t sure at first if the role was going to be worthy of her. But then she got to speak just like Harry when he took over Carlyn’s body, which was fun, and presumably won’t remember much about the experience aside from not having her boss harass her anymore thanks to Harry taking care of him in a rather violent way. Asta is trying to be Harry’s conscience but not doing a great job of fully getting through to him, and he still believes that he’s a murderer-murderer, which is somehow different from a normal murderer. I did enjoy Mike concluding that Harry was an albino werewolf before Harry gave him and Liv fake memories about the FBI taking over the case and concluding that Harry was definitely innocent. The big night out for GN-59 was a great opportunity for them to rally together for a cause – equal pay for women in Patience – and also for Kate to spill some secrets about what her not-so-squeaky-clean husband likes in the bedroom. Sahar, as usual, was the smartest person in the episode, realizing fully what was happening with Max and then going to Harry to tell him that she had buried the ball, which he was never getting back. David appears to be poised for a return to Patience, which isn’t a good thing given that Harry is really bad at pretending to be human if anyone knows that he’s not.
