Jane the Virgin: Season 2, Episode 13 “Chapter Thirty-Five” (B+)
Michael’s appearance at the end of last episode made things incredibly simple in one way: Jane wants to be with Michael, and he wants to be with her. The trouble is what that means for another important man in Jane’s life, one who, despite being my choice for Jane, is being unapologetically childish in his attempts to prevent Michael from being with Jane. Citing his occupation as the reason he needed to stay away from Mateo got thrown back in his face when Michael valiantly offered to quit his job, and it’s just going to be uncomfortable with the three of them from now on, especially considering how mad Jane got at Rafael for being petty. Rafael heading straight to Petra to tell her that he would be there for her didn’t work out either since she saw right through his grand gesture as nothing more a way to cope with being rejected by Jane. Rogelio and Xiomara were strangely okay with being with each other as friends, but of course that led to sex and to Xiomara being upset that Rogelio still thought that she would change her mind. Rogelio being offended was unexpected, but all that will be water under the bridge now that Rogelio’s assistant has been revealed as his prison pen pal slash stalker. In the wake of Rose’s death, Luisa is unsurprisingly regressing, and it’s nice to see Susannah show up to make her go back to rehab and promise her that she’ll be there for her when she gets out. Also, it was weird to be reminded that Jane and Susannah don’t know each other.
