What I’m Watching: New Girl

New Girl: Season 5, Episode 8 “The Decision” (B+)

I liked this episode a lot more than I’ve liked some of this show’s recent installments. I still think that Megan Fox is not a particularly good actress, as evidenced by her performance in the scene where she tried to seduce Nick with her sexy reading of material that was definitely not meant to be erotic. But it was fun to see her take note of Nick’s inability to make a decision and use it to her advantage, getting both Nick and Winston so worked up about the prospect of sleeping with her that they couldn’t function. The best part was what it inspired in both of them after they were silly and couldn’t pick. Nick putting on his pajamas to ensure that he wouldn’t possibly be attractive since that’s not how he wanted things to happen was sweet, and that Reagan responded by wearing her admittedly baggy leopard print pajamas was very endearing – there may just be hope for them yet. Winston realizing and nearly confessing his affection for his partner was great, if only her boyfriend didn’t exist, a revelation to which Winston reacted perfectly. Schmidt and Cece looking at a place way out of their price range really did inspire them to prove how genuine their love is, and I honestly expected that the place would call them and tell them that they had gotten it over Schmidt’s obnoxious bully. Oh well, the abandoned warehouse idea should be quaint and nice too, and I’m sure Schmidt’s wedding is going to be one hell of an affair to remember.
