What I’m Watching: Limitless

Limitless: Season 1, Episode 16 “Sands, Agent of Morra” (B+)

It’s great to have a window into one of the more mysterious characters on this show, one who is much less intimidating when he’s wearing a Female Body Inspector shirt. Showing up at Brian’s apartment late at night and telling him not to call the police or Senator Morra suggested that he was really up to something secretive, and definitely enhances the intrigue factor since up until now Sands has seemed much more evil than Morra. Yet after this experience I don’t think that’s the case, though he did install surveillance equipment in Brian’s apartment so that he can monitor exactly what the NZT-taking man-child is up to on a regular basis. I like that Sands’ team had codenames that were famous Hollywood directors, and that Sands’ backstory played out via comic book illustrations. That his mission intersected directly with the case that Rebecca and Boyle were investigating couldn’t have been a coincidence, but I enjoyed that it wasn’t explicitly explained at the start of the episode. I didn’t remember anything about Brian’s sister Rachel, but it was a blast to get to know her in this episode, first as she listened to Brian’s instructions about how to save Sands and then ended up sleeping with Ike, whose real name we heard but Brian refused to acknowledge since he was already so angry about them having sex in his bed in his apartment. I’m surprised by Ike, though it’s nice to see him get to have more of a personality and even a love life that’s wholly inappropriate given his full-time job.
