Emmy Nominees: Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series

My predictions: 5/6, picking Margulies over Russell

Well, there was one slot open from last year, and it went to Keri Russell (The Americans), whose show finally broke into the major categories, instead of Julianna Margulies for the final season of her show, which was a surprise. I’m thrilled that Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) is now a default nominee – I knew that it was her when presenter Anthony Anderson pulled out a piece of paper to help him pronounce her name – and when she doesn’t win again, it’s going to be appalling that someone thinks that anyone else is superior to her. Claire Danes (Homeland) is back again, as is Robin Wright (House of Cards), joined by sophomore nominees Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) and Taraji P. Henson (Empire), who serve this year as the only acting representatives of their show.

Who should win? To be honest, there’s just as much here that I don’t watch as that I do, and I’m only halfway through this season of “House of Cards.” I can’t imagine anyone would top Maslany, though.
Who will win? Probably Davis again.
