Emmy Nominees: Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 4/6, picking Bloom and Rodriguez over Metcalf and Ellis Ross

I’m very sad that Rachel Bloom didn’t make the cut for her fantastic performance on “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” and it’s only a minor consolation that her show got nominated in four categories, including music and lyrics and choreography. Instead, Anthony Anderson got to go nuts over Tracie Ellis Ross (Black-ish) being included, and we get the peculiar mention of Laurie Metcalf (Getting On), whose show rubbed me the wrong way when I watched one episode last year. I’m relieved and pleased to see that Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) made the cut after being snubbed last year, joining returning nominees Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie), Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), who might win her fifth consecutive trophy this year.

Who should win? Like the drama actress field, I don’t watch more shows than I do here, and the only season I’ve seen in full is “Veep.” More on all this later.
Who will win? How could it not be Louis-Dreyfus again?
