Emmy Nominees: Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 4/7, missing Anderson, Michael-Key, and Walsh

This is quite a list. Despite Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Broadway popularity, Ty Burrell (Modern Family) is now officially the only nominated actor from his show, which received fewer nominations than ever this year. Despite a major creative resurgence, “Girls” was shut out for the first time this year, leaving expected repeat nominee Adam Driver off the list. The other four nominees from last year are back, including Keegan Michael-Key (Key and Peele) for the final year of his show, Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Tituss Burges (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Tony Hale (Veep). Joining Hale from the show that received a whopping seventeen nominations, almost doubling its total from last year, is Matt Walsh (Veep). He’s actually a great choice and probably had the best showcase this year, possibly even better than Hale. Joining them all is Louie Anderson (Baskets), an intriguing nominee that many others predicted.

Who should win? I don’t watch a few of these shows, so I’ll reserve judgment until I’ve watched all the submissions.
Who will win? Maybe Anderson? Or Hale might repeat.
