Emmy Nominees: Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 5/6, picking Krakowski over Nash

There’s simple math to be done for this category to get it down from the excessive eight nominees last year, starting with deleting inclusions from shows Emmy voters don’t love anymore, namely “The Big Bang Theory” and “Modern Family.” Add in Judith Light (Transparent), who was an expected nominee last year and had a more prominent showcase this year, joining returning nominee Gaby Hoffmann (Transparent). Bring back Allison Janney (Mom) and Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), the undisputed standouts from their shows, and Anna Chlumsky (Veep), who stars on the most-nominated comedy this year. I would have thought Jane Krakowski would be the obvious choice to round out the list, but apparently it’s Niecy Nash (Getting On) instead, who repeats her bizarre and unnecessary nomination from last year.

Who should win? I don’t want a bunch of these shows, so I’ll reserve judgment until later.
Who will win? Janney has won twice in a row now, so why not a third time?
