Emmy Nominees: Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series

My predictions: 3/6, missing Chandler, Rhys, Schreiber

This wasn’t a great start, I’ll admit. “Billions,” which I found to be one of the best new shows of the season, got shut out without even a single technical nomination. Instead, we got a repeat of Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), which I’m not thrilled about even though I like the actor, and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), who is totally deserving and whose show fantastically scored elsewhere too. I’m not a fan of “The Americans,” and therefore Emmy voters’ sudden interest in Matthew Rhys (The Americans) and his series in its fourth season strikes me as odd. It’s great to see Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) here even though his show didn’t land quite as spectacularly as I’d hoped, and naturally both Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) are here, as both their shows matched their record nominations from previous years.

Who should win? Malek, Odenkirk, and Schreiber are all great choices. Need to watch Chandler’s and Rhys’ submissions.
Who will win? Out of this list, I don’t know. My money is still on Malek.
