Emmy Predictions: Best Writing for a Comedy Series

The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 14th. As always, chime in below in the comments with any thoughts of your own.

Last year’s nominees: Episode Nine (Episodes), Alive in Tucson (The Last Man on Earth), Bobby’s House (Louie), Two Days of the Condor (Silicon Valley), Pilot (Transparent), Election Night (Veep)

The competition: There are a number of contenders that could show up here from a number of different shows. Watch out for a slew of new series, including “Baskets,” “The Brink,” “Casual,” “Catastrophe,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “The Detour,” “Difficult People,” “Lady Dynamite,” “Love,” “Master of None,” and “You, Me, Her.” Returning possibilities include “Silicon Valley” for Founder Friendly or The Uptick, “Transparent” for Kina Hora or Man on the Land, “Veep” for Morning After or a number of other episodes, “The Last Man on Earth” for Pitch Black or Silent Night, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” for Kimmy Goes on a Playdate! or other episodes, and “Girls” for Old Loves or Queen for Two Days, among others. I feel like there are so many options here; it’s hard to pick out just a few. This year, there will be six nominees instead of the traditional five.

The predicted nominees: Pilot (Casual), Josh Just Happens to Live Here! (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Parents (Master of None),The Uptick (Silicon Valley), Man on the Land (Transparent), Morning After (Veep)

The predicted winner: “Casual”
