What I’m Watching: Good Behavior

Good Behavior: Season 1, Episode 8 “It Still Fits Bitch” (B+)

It’s incredible just how much one of them being down makes Javier or Letty swoop in to save the day and make the other feel better. Javier was in an almost catatonic state at the start of this episode, not interested in facing the world after being kicked out of his family, and Letty sprang into action to pose as a waitress at a diner and get them two to-go meals. After spending some time at home, they had a great heart-to-heart, and Javier explained how he got into his business after killing someone and feeling bad, and then finding a solution to cover it up which didn’t make him feel bad. His rationalization that he’s just the bullet and someone else pulls the trigger is intriguing, and having him tell that story the night after he opted not to use violence but instead to threaten a man who was making anti-Mexican comments and intimidate him into signing over the title to his Harley. My favorite part of their exchange was actually the most comic, with Javier asking who Mike and Ike were and what they had to do with jelly beans. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the very, very bad after the wonderful news that Estelle had lifted the restraining order. Jacob’s father does seem like he has it all together, and that’s a huge problem given how set he seems on taking Jacob away. Javier did just what needed to be done in that moment, and now she’s asked him for something much bigger that I don’t think he’s going to do. On a lighter note, I really do like Rob, who is dumb as anything but is a really nice guy, certainly more honest than Kyle.
