Life in Pieces: Season 2, Episode 8 “Window Vanity Dress Grace” (B)
I’ve surely noted before that Jen is my favorite character on this show, and I always enjoy when we get to see a little bit more of Zoe-Lister Jones expressing as much attitude as possible about something. Coming home drunk on Christmas with her husband was a fun preview, though she was actually featured much more in funny ways in the segment with the wedding dress shopping. The “sex window” vignette was a great chance for brothers-in-law to be competing in a way that didn’t involve nearly enough boundaries, as Tim created his own and traded it for Greg’s after discussing that he pictured his mom or Heather’s, whichever Greg thought wasn’t weird. I’m perplexed about even a child as precocious as Sophia would be excited about a vanity, and that whole segment was just about father and son bonding. John telling Matt that “Greg may be our favorite, but you’re the one we got used to having around” had an unexpectedly sweet ring to it, and I think that’s all Matt could really have hoped for. Colleen bringing her future sister-in-laws and mother-in-law dress-shopping just so that they wouldn’t feel left out even though she already had a dress picked out was a well-intentioned idea, but I think it got a little out of hand and could have been avoided with a simple explanation ahead of time. Tim thinking that Clementine was hitting on him because she was trying to be extra nice to get him to like her was pretty hilarious, and the reactions, first doubtful and then in shock, from Greg and Matt were the best part.
