What I’m Watching: The Flash

The Flash: Season 7, Episode 12 “Good-Bye Vibrations” (B)

Well, I guess that’s it for Cisco and Kamila, who opted to wait to tell the team that they were leaving town until they really had to go, presumably to put off any sad goodbyes until the last minute. It did seem strange that no one was sentimental about them going, but naturally that was a front to cover their emotions and it all resulted in two sentimental send-off, one from Team Flash and one from Team Citizen. Cisco leaving is a big deal since he’s a part of this show from the beginning, and while Chester is indeed entertaining, he still feels a bit new. Kamila, on the other hand, has never been a truly central part of this show, but presumably she’ll now be replaced by a new cast member who might join Team Citizen since Iris and Allegra could use a third partner to help them continue their investigative reporting. Having the guest meta be someone who made people happy was helpful for Cisco to be able to be exuberant while he was otherwise upset about the lack of commotion over his impending departure, and I like the idea that Barry was intent on not sending this particular criminal to Iron Heights but instead having her do community service in order to pay for her crimes. The karaoke moment at the end of the episode felt like more of a nod to the cast dynamic that’s likely present and nostalgic about Carlos Valdés leaving than about Barry singing with Cisco and Caitlin, something I don’t remember happening more than once or twice at the most.
