What I’m Watching: Hung

Hung: Season 3, Episode 5 “We’re Golden or Crooks and Big Beaver” (B+)

This isn’t your conventional ride-along. This episode was highly entertaining thanks to a scorned Lydia feeling rather insane thanks to Ray’s abandonment of her coupled with Tanya sending Jason in his place. Ray isn’t your typical prostitute either, and therefore it’s interesting to see him do his best to worm out of the situation as he manages to talk Lydia down from her craziness, only to have Tanya reveal herself at just the wrong moment. Learning that Lydia is married comes as somewhat of a surprise, but that also creates an amusing moment when Lydia forces Ray to come home and see Jessica when his children call him since they’re rather fed up with their mother after hearing too much information about her tryst with Matt. His five-minute appearance actually worked pretty well, though it’s going to be a tough road getting the family dynamic back together. He certainly has a way with words, as he managed to offer her the idea of having sex, with no cops and robbers, no money, just two people, making her feel like a normal, loveable woman. Tanya being handcuffed to a pole outside the car wasn’t great for her, but she and Ray definitely aren’t always on the same page, so it’s good that he had some space to try to figure out how to deal with the situation. Lenore is not someone you want to mess with, and Sandee and Jason need to stop trying to mess with her since nothing they do is ever going to be smart enough to get the best of her.
