Parks & Recreation: Season 4, Episode 7 “The Treaty” (B+)
I’m glad that Ben and Leslie’s relationship continues to be a featured part of this show as it evolves to new levels and highlights their similar traits. Leslie’s desire to help the Model UN club stay alive turned into something much nuttier as her campaign got in the way of her collaboration with Ben, or more specifically, Denmark and Peru. After Leslie’s declaration of war on Peru, things got considerably more ridiculous, leading the students to kick both nations out of the UN. Leave it to Leslie to figure out a way to make it up to all of them that actually rocks, and to have the wisdom, at least theoretically, to ensure that she wouldn’t be present for the next event. Telling Ben that they need to find five minutes a day to talk was nice, and I do hope that their friendship continues to blossom. Apparently without much business to conduct at City Hall, Chris feels the need to involve even more people in his relationship with Millicent when he becomes concerned that she hasn’t responded to him following their fourth date. Donna got about as excited as Jerry was horrified, and Ann did a superb job of explaining to Chris that his constant enthusiasm can be suffocating. It’s a rare treat to see Ron actually try to get something done, and talking the egomaniacal Tom back into his job was tougher than it should have been. Ron is not one to be messed with, of course, hence his dramatic grabbing of Tom and his forcing him to ask Ron for his job back after Ron had just begged him to take it.
