What I’m Watching: Ringer

Ringer: Season 1, Episode 7 “Oh Gawd, There’s Two of Them?” (C+)

Things are coming together in a major way as all of our plotlines are infringing on one another and many more characters are suddenly being read in to the facts as we know them, at least partially and incompletely. The pre-credits beginning of this episode was designed almost entirely as a fake-out presented for shock value, with both Andrew and Henry identifying the woman in the photo as Bridget. I suppose it’s better to have done it that way than to have her sit down and actually explain it all out normally, and cutting back and forth between both men’s reactions was decently effective. Bridget is finally being smart about this, even calling her own phone and leaving a message, supposedly from Bridget rather than Siobhan. Now, it’s almost impossible that any of the characters would discover Bridget’s identity, since her coming clean puts her off their radar. If we learned anything from this episode, it’s that you should never leave a hostage alone in a van, even if he’s high as a kite. Malcolm’s impressive and strangely easy journey back to New York City should have reunited him with Bridget, but instead she took a fall and now may have her non-pregnancy revealed to her husband. It’s less than reassuring to see Juliet finally do the right thing and have Andrew cut her off because her driving wasn’t up to par. As always, Siobhan is relegated to the episode’s final moments, but what a whopper of an ending: Bridget’s sponsor Charlie is the one who took care of Gemma! I can’t imagine Bridget will deduce that fact anytime soon, but I’m interested to see how the chips fall.
