What I’m Watching: Resident Alien

Resident Alien: Season 2, Episode 2 “The Wire” (B+)

Harry is someone who gets fixated on a certain idea and then makes that everything he thinks about, which in this case made Asta’s attempt to get him to make friends so that he wouldn’t kill everyone on the planet a perfect opportunity for him to audition potential bunker butlers since the state of Asta’s car didn’t give him much confidence in her cleaning abilities. Seeing how angry he got and how he easily smashed Ben’s heirloom table when he didn’t win poker was disconcerting, but it’s a much less messy situation than the one in his bunker, where he’ll now have to explain to Mike and Liv why there were two Astas walking around. They were getting close to figuring out who Harry was, or at least the real Harry, and given Mike’s lack of belief in what Liv was properly lip-reading, I expected it to take them much longer to get to the truth. I’m not sure if there’s any significance to Darcy being the one to show up in Harry’s nightmare, but she also knows that Asta isn’t telling her everything. I do wonder if Darcy and Ben’s kiss is going to come up and cause problems for the newly inseparable Ben and Kate, though Ben might also be distracted by trying to uphold the reputation of his town. Sahar is busy enough trying to keep Max clean-shaven, a humorous issue that Harry should really fix given the potential attention it could bring to him being an alien.
