What I’m Watching: Ringer

Ringer: Season 1, Episode 16 “You’re Way Too Pretty To Go To Jail” (C)

With Juliet and Katherine pretty much all forgotten about, this show is getting into extremely dangerous territory. Bridget came right out and pointed out what I always argue is a crucial misstep that shows take when they reveal a character’s big secret: Andrew is still the same person he was before she knew that he was behind the Ponzi scheme. This whole time, though Bridget has been oblivious, he has been running this scam, and for him to suddenly transform into a murderer because she knows is completely out of character. I sincerely hope that him showing up at Malcolm’s door is just a red herring, and that someone else murdered Tyler and he’s just there to have a not-so-friendly chat. I’m not sure what could possibly have compelled Malcolm to idiotically run to Henry since the real Siobhan is now involved and has managed to insert herself into her sister’s life. The one productive thing that accomplished was compelling Malcolm to press charges against Macawi, though even if he survives his confrontation with Andrew, I doubt the charges will stick. Learning that Machado was sleeping with his murdered informant is somewhat unexpected, and I was annoyed that we needed to have the unnecessary flashback to reveal that she was pregnant when she died. Malcolm’s reason for speaking up – that Bridget can go back to her normal life – makes so much sense, and if only things could be that easy and all of the plotlines could be brought together with nothing more than his testimony.
