What I’m Watching: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Season 4, Episode 5 “Lockup” (B)

Things are starting to really come together, with every player on this show featuring into the plot of this episode in a way that connected them all. Mac, Robbie, and Daisy serving as backup for Coulson and May as they stormed the prison to save Eli was cool, and it’s good to finally have everyone on the same page again even if there were a few growing pains. Mac telling Robbie that he couldn’t control what was inside of him was an interesting diagnosis, but I think that he’s well aware of when he turns it on, and choosing to trigger his inner demon to exact justice was a sure sign of that. Mac realizing that he was infected and immediately injecting himself with the antidote was the smoothest and swiftest reaction we’ve seen yet to one of the undead passing through someone, and he’s an excellent example for all those who have gone crazy to emulate instead. Daisy locking Coulson out to save the day herself was brash and bold, and it’s going to take a lot for her to feel like part of the team again. Mace’s television interview was really something, and kudos to the voice in his ear for bluffing her way out of being given the polygraph. I like that Mace met directly with Senator Nadeer and that she put all her cards on the table, seemingly advocating for true safety and oversight on his part in a way that wasn’t nearly as sinister as what we know she’s up to.
