Emmy Predictions: Best Directing for a Comedy Series
The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 14th. Chime in below in the comments with any thoughts of your own.
Last year’s nominees:
Pilot (Glee)
Wheels (Glee)
Pilot (Modern Family)
Pilot (Nurse Jackie)
I Do Do (30 Rock)
The top contenders:
Pilot (The Big C)
A Fistful of Paintballs (Community)
Duets (Glee)
Original Song (Glee)
Special Education (Glee)
Pilot (Hot in Cleveland)
Halloween (Modern Family)
See You Next Fall (Modern Family)
Slow Down Your Neighbors (Modern Family)
Goodbye Michael, Part 2 (The Office)
Search Committee (The Office)
Fancy Party (Parks and Recreation)
Pilot (Raising Hope)
Live Show (30 Rock)
100 (30 Rock)
Reaganing (30 Rock)
The roundup: With the exception of 2009, this award has gone to a pilot every year since 2004. The Big C definitely has the best show of making it in this year, and both Hot in Cleveland and Raising Hope could place, but probably won’t. Expect at least one episode of Glee, probably “Duets,” and one an episode of Modern Family, possibly “Slow Down Your Neighbors.” I’m pulling for “Fancy Party” from Parks and Recreation, and I’m not sure whether “Goodbye Michael” or “Search Committee” from The Office will make the cut. It’s probably unwise to count out an episode of 30 Rock, so I’ll put “Reaganing” in the alternate slot.
The predicted nominees: Pilot (The Big C), Duets (Glee), Slow Down Your Neighbors (Modern Family), Search Committee (The Office), Fancy Party (Parks and Recreation)
The predicted winner: Slow Down Your Neighbors (Modern Family)
