The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 16th. Please refer to my Emmy musings for this category for a detailed analysis of the contenders, and, as always, chime in below in the comments with any thoughts of your own.
Last year’s nominees: Kate Burton, Jane Fonda, Allison Janney, Kate Mara, Margo Martindale, Diana Rigg
The competition: Mara didn’t appear on her show last year, and Fonda is now considered supporting. The other four are all still good bets, and they’ll face the stronger competition from past nominees Julia Ormond (Mad Men) and Carrie Preston (The Good Wife), as well as Laura Prepon (Orange is the New Black), Julianne Nicholson (Masters of Sex), Elizabeth Reaser (Mad Men), Jennifer Hudson (Empire), and Jessica Paré (Mad Men). I think that Sarah Silverman (Masters of Sex) will probably earn a nomination, and Patricia Arquette (Boardwalk Empire) should get a boost from her recent Oscar win.
