Dark Matter: Season 1, Episode 5 “Episode Five” (B+)
Each episode of this show seems to find its characters coming far too close to death, and this one didn't even involve any live enemies. As tends to be the case, of course, dead enemies can often be worse, with whatever these mutated zombie types were who nearly invited Two to their ranks. This episode once again paired up One and Three as partners on a mission in which, unsurprisingly, Three was trigger-happy and ready to kill anyone or anything in his path, and One was far more humane. I like that, after they nearly suffocated and then got rescued, One dared Three to tell the rest of the group what he had on him to get him to go along with him since constantly agreeing with the more aggressive solution is never going to work in the long run. The one human we did see aside from the crew was definitely sleazy, and I was perplexed by the comedic moment in which he yelled at whoever who was near him that he didn't know where her inhaler was and then started puffing on something that looked an awful like lot an inhaler. I'm glad, as I'm sure all viewers are (you must be out there somewhere – I've yet to find a friend or colleague who watches this show), that Two survived, since she continues to be the show's strongest character aside from the Android, whose minimal bits of personality that show themselves several times per episode are really a lot of fun.
