What I’m Watching: Nashville

Nashville: Season 1, Episode 4 “We Live in Two Different Worlds” (B+)

There’s nothing like an incriminating video featuring a tiny little bit of shoplifting to ruin your career in just a few minuets. Juliette did not do herself any favors by telling the cops that visited her home to get a real job, and maintaining that she did nothing wrong during the interview before storming out at the mention of her mom made things infinitely worse. It’s hard to feel bad for her based on the way that she treats other people and acts in a superior fashion, and she’s lucky to have a supportive manager like Glen who will stick with her long after he should have abandoned her. Deacon was just the right friend for her to call given how strained things are between him and Rayna at the moment, and he may just be Juliette’s saving grace. It was fascinating to see a whole different side of the friendly Deacon when he butted heads with Lamar and Teddy, though he’s hardly to blame for inciting the malice with Lamar. Teddy’s mystery misdeed should really be revealed sooner rather than later, and it’s definitely set to eventually come out in a bad way. Gunner sleeping with Hailey and spending his life savings on yogurt that’s sure to expire before she can eat it all doesn’t seem like a wise move, and it’s going to make things between Scarlett and Avery much worse as a result since Scarlett not being able to communicate with either her boyfriend or her writing partner is going to leave her feeling extremely abandoned.
