What I’m Watching: Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy: Season 5, Episode 9 “Andare Pescare” (B+)

We still have four episodes to go before the season finale, and I can’t imagine how much more things are going to heat up before then. Tailing Frankie was extremely delicate since Clay nearly got there before Jax and had the opportunity to kill him so that he couldn’t tell anyone his story, but that explosion brought so much attention that he didn’t have to be the one to fire the fatal bullet. Bobby’s conversation with Clay was a rare opportunity to see someone other than loyal servants Tig and Juice or sworn enemies Jax and Opie take Clay to task for his actions, and Bobby’s desire not to burn friends was its most emphatic moment, since an alarming percentage of the club is dropping, and quickly. It’s a real shame that Juice has to face the consequences of his actions since everyone likes him, and Roosevelt didn’t even have to tell Jax his identity for him to realize it. The happy look on Juice’s face as he watched Clay and Gemma reconciling was heartbreaking considering we know what his fate is likely to be. Tara’s visit with Otto was unsettling, but it appears that what he said and how he acted affected her quite a bit. Hopefully her job offer might still come through in some way and won’t be affected by her newly public status as the wife of a felon. Gemma is going to have to make up her mind sooner or later about Nero and break up with him for good if she wants to have any hope of reeling Clay in and getting her family back for good.
