Weeds: Season 8, Episode 2 “A Beam of Sunshine’ (B+)
Nancy is up and talking again, which turns out to be well worth it as she doles out free pot to a whole hospital of sick people and intimidates the hell out of a clown with her alleged mob connections. It’s a good thing that she’s getting serious about a new approach to business since all of her associates are extremely distracted. Andy pursuing Jill is not going to end well for anyone, though she seems set on alienating Scott and not taking him back as their daughters are so certain that she’s going to, like every other time. Continuing to have sex with him in the bathroom after being interrupted by a furious Scott was particularly cold and heartless. Doug investing in the scarf company is definitely going to blow back on him and his coworkers in a bad way, but that probably won’t happen for a while. Silas is clearly dealing with working for Nancy by exerting control in a different way, but mixing business with pleasure is likely not the best idea. Shane seems to have made great headway in his search for his mother’s shooter, as evidenced by the grin on his face while he was looking at Tim’s Facebook page. I’m curious to see what, if any, role Tim will play in this season, since it’s not entirely clear where the new, smile-filled version of the Botwin family business is headed and what’s in store for the family and their friends in the coming episodes.
