The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 19th. Please refer to my Emmy musings for this category for a detailed analysis of the contenders, and, as always, chime in below in the comments with any thoughts of your own.
Last year’s nominees: The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Modern Family, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock
The competition: All six nominees from last year are eligible this time around, but I suspect they’ll be some change as fading series Glee and The Office are cast out by shows that are still in their prime. It’s a good that Curb Your Enthusiasm, which has been nominated for every season since the second despite its infrequent airing schedule, will oust one of them, and there are a few new shows that could step in to claim a spot as well, including New Girl, Girls, Enlightened, and Veep. Expect to see Modern Family, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, and The Big Bang Theory again, and last year’s breakout hit Louie could creep into this category as well.
