Burn Notice: Season 6, Episode 3 “Last Rites” (B+)
With Fiona in jail, it’s definitely a lot harder to put together a team on the outside, and I love that Michael doesn’t even hesitate to volunteer his family members for the job. Better still is Nate’s reaction, which suggests immense loyalty to his brother. I was excited to see an episode delve into Pearce’s personal life, which indicates that, unlike all of her predecessors, she actually does have a soft spot for Michael and has his best interests at heart. Watching her and Jesse play the bad guys together was a lot of fun, and Nate also deserves commendation for his quick thinking when he got caught red-handed taking apart a phone. Making Ahmed think that the Russians were the ones who developed the virus was an extremely smart play, and everything worked out for the best. Meanwhile, Fiona managed to put a spin on the prison commerce plotline by demonstrating expert enthusiasm for causing destructive distractions. For the moment, she seems to be safe, but it’s going to be harder and harder to make friends in prison the longer she stays in there. Fortunately, her latest contact seemed to have been impressed by her, and therefore Michael got the message about the guard who’s trying to have her killed. What he’ll be able to do with that information remains to be seen, and I suspect that Fiona will spend a good portion of this season behind bars before she gets out, which may or may not be as a result of an official release.
