What I’m Watching: The Flight Attendant

The Flight Attendant: Season 2, Episode 3 “The Reykjavik Ice Sculpture Festival is Lovely This Time of Year” (B+)

There’s something about the dialogue and banter on this show that just feels so honest and fresh, and makes it a lot of fun to watch. It was particularly entertaining to see Shane on the flight that Cassie was able to blackmail Black Market Carol into letting her jump-seat, and to watch how he kept following her around Reykjavik determined to figure out what she was actually doing. She leaned fully into trying the local cuisine even though she was quite disgusted by it, and she was smart to go to a meeting and resist the temptation of the very open minibar. It also happened that was where she found out where Megan was, though her friend was not at all happy to see her when she showed up shouting her name, suggesting that they’re both in real danger. Back home, Annie had an immediate distraction from the misery of her failed job interview with an even more uncomfortable situation, meeting Max’s parents and being inundated with commentary about the family they were going to build together right away. Things seemed particularly rocky when they were walking back home, but I imagine they’re going to be able to make up if they survive their latest predicament. Gabrielle and Esteban escalated quickly from shopping at Home Depot for kidnapping supplies with Cassie’s credit card to taking more hostages, or at least that’s what we can hope. It may take Benjamin and Dot some time to figure out what’s really going on, but I’m enjoying their dynamic in the meantime.
