How I Met Your Father: Season 1, Episode 3 “The Fixer” (B+)

I like that Sophie and Jesse seem to be headed in the direction of friendship, both helping to set the other up with other romantic opportunities. As I theorized with the previous episode, there were other men that Sophie met on that fateful night who could also end up being the father, and the presence of Josh Peck’s vice-principal Drew means that is a very strong candidate. He was instantly taken with her, stopping to make small chat before asking her in no uncertain terms to leave the property because she was photographing students. He seems like a truly nice guy, and is probably a healthy option for Sophie after her eighty-eight dates. I enjoyed her defensive confrontation at the bar with the woman who recognized Jesse from his proposal fail video, and her acknowledgment of her outfit matching that of the waitresses at the bar was also great. Sid’s sex toy experience wasn’t quite as bad as it could have been, especially since no one caught him naked on the couch in the living room, and the fact that he flew to be with his fiancée so that he could show his commitment was very sweet. I wonder how she would feel about the fact that his new female friend had helped him, and I’m also curious if Valentina wanted to know whether he had washed the light before giving it back to her. Charlie remains clueless, but I like the pairing of him and Ellen as roommates, both loudly declaring in a bar full of firefighters that they’re the bravest people in the city.
