What I’m Watching: Superman and Lois

Superman and Lois: Season 2, Episode 3 “The Thing in the Mines” (B+)

It’s never a good thing to see Clark out of control, and having him go from regular parent to triggering his heat vision out of rage was an especially worrisome sight. It happened multiple times and in front of both of his kids, who were fortunately smart enough to know that he needed help right away. It shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise, therefore, that the thing in the mines was some fragmented form of Clark, though John was quick to confirm that it wasn’t the Superman from his world. John really shouldn’t be going out on missions without backup, especially when Dr. Faulkner, whether she knew he was there in a deceptive context or not, was intent on leaving him to die because she didn’t want anyone asking questions. I’m not optimistic about Jonathan’s response to learning that Candice was the one supplying the drugs to Timmy, since he’s probably not running a sting operation of his own but just trying to level up to the same playing field. Lana’s campaign isn’t going so well, and having to apologize for Morgan Edge is going to follow her for her entire career. Watching too many different Arrowverse shows got me confused about whether we’ve seen Lucy on this show before or not (a quick search of my reviews for her name produced nothing, and I don’t want to check IMDB for fear of spoiling her eventual appearance and casting). Having Ally show up to the meeting Sam tried to arrange between his two daughters is a huge red flag, and there’s no way that she’s giving up after that.
