What I’m Watching: Ghosts

Ghosts: Season 1, Episode 15 “Thorapy” (B+)

It’s nice that Sam and Jay made all the ghosts a huge brunch with all the food they most wanted to smell, and they even got Trevor a swimsuit calendar despite Sam’s distaste for the objectification of women. But Pete knew what was up, that they had bad news to deliver, and aside from one very problematic roommate, the ghosts having to bunk up didn’t end up being all that bad. I’m not a great sleeper, but at least I don’t wake up ready to cut people in half with my axe. The idea of Sam getting therapy for Thorfinn by pretending to have experienced what he had been through was humorous, and I like that Jay suggested that she might benefit from being able to talk about her own problems. Isaac objecting to the scandalous nature of him rooming with Hetty coupled with Nigel asking if he wanted to bunk with him instead led to a great opportunity for Isaac to verbalize the feelings he’s had and hasn’t been ready to share for centuries. It was sweet to see him open up to Hetty after initially trying to seduce her, something she had yet to experience given what we saw of her husband when he made a brief return from the dead. Hugging Isaac was the best possible response, and whether this leads to anything else remains to be known. I do think it could be fun to see him work through his newly-realized identity with some of the other ghosts.
