What I’m Watching: Suspicion

Suspicion: Season 1, Episode 6 “Be the Gray Man” (B)

This episode saw most of the characters go back and reach out to elements of their former lives, with mostly disappointing results, before giving us two crucial reveals about which of the suspects absolutely cannot be trusted. Eddie’s text from the end of the last episode indicated that he was surveilling everyone, and now we got confirmation from Vanessa that he’s working with her as a mole to stay on top of their activities. How useful that it is now that they’ve gone into international jurisdiction remains to be seen, but the bigger issue is that Sean is working directly with Catherine Newman’s number two, actively setting them up to take the fall for a kidnapping that it now seems very possible he might have orchestrated himself. I’m not too sure on that theory just yet, but it’s certainly not good news. Tara had a decent encounter with her daughter, and she seems to be the most reckless of the bunch, undressing in front of Sean, possibly to size up how much control she could exert over him. Natalie called her fiancé to meet with her mom only to see them send someone from the police, a sign that Monique may have been on her side but that’s she otherwise on her own. Aadesh received a similarly unfriendly reception, which at least means that he’ll be focused on just trying to clear his name. With just two episodes left, there are still unanswered questions, and I’m eager to see what the plan is now that they’re all going to be back in New York.
