Ghosts: Season 1, Episode 14 “Ghostwriter” (B+)
Putting together the website for the bed and breakfast almost did Sam and Jay in, but fortunately they had a bit of help from the ghosts after they nearly ruined it. Sasappis wanting his ideas to be taken seriously and feeling like Sam wasn’t listening to him led to a very problematic move on his part, which was to get Trevor to try to rush to add his text in only to delete everything she had been working on permanently. Digging into Sasappis’ past and giving him an opportunity to be a storyteller for the group when the TV mysteriously wasn’t working was sweet. One of my favorite relationships on this show is the one that exists between Jay and Pete, though there’s a very sad element of it since Jay never knows if he’s there and doesn’t get to see just how much Pete reciprocates and enjoys all that he does. Jay inviting Mark to watch with him showed the truly unpleasant effect of someone sitting for a long period of time on a ghost. It was certainly a surprise to see Flower express an interest in basketball, and she quickly demonstrated that she knew much more about the sport than he did. Flower remains a relatively fleeting question mark, but it was fun to see her in this context. I liked how quickly Thor picked up on how maybe often means no and how he implemented that right away by responding to Isaac’s suggestion about the Magna Carta.
