What I’m Watching: Resident Alien

Resident Alien: Season 2, Episode 7 “Escape from New York” (B+)

While I would have appreciated the opportunity to see another alien from Harry’s planet, I do like the fact that he’s the only one we’ve seen so far, and now he might be able to parent a child, which is not something I would have expected. Violinda might have had insight to contribute about Goliath, but she got killed pretty quickly, as did Lisa, who initially seemed like she was going to pose a threat but got quickly decapitated by Harry while Asta happened to be out of the car. It’s not the best time for the people who come closest to being friends of Harry’s to be in his house waiting to surprise him for his birthday, but I have a feeling that he’ll be able to get them out soon and tend to his rapidly-hatching egg. While it’s good to see that Mike is acting on his newly-developed soft spot for Sam’s wife and is finally investigating his murder, that’s likely to lead him to Harry, which will not be productive and will only put him and Liv in harm’s way. I didn’t think that D’Arcy needing to sneak out the window when Kate got home and noticed the changes Ben had made to the house would lead to D’Arcy and Kate working out together and then connecting about the reasons they’re not satisfied with their lives at the moment. It’s all likely to end badly since Kate will eventually find out about D’Arcy and Ben’s kiss and be upset with her new buddy for not telling her. I am curious about who the people tailing Harry and Asta were who got taken out by a confused Lisa.
