What I’m Watching: Big Sky

Big Sky: Season 2, Episode 15 “The Muffin or the Hammer” (C)

Jenny sneaking into the lab didn’t result in what she expected it to, which was her discovery of drugs being manufactured and the Bhullars being arrested. Instead, she nearly got killed by Dhruv and found a way to take him out instead, which now means that Travis, who let her go when he had the opportunity, has been assigned to kill her with Donno, who we know will do anything in service of Ren. Tonya has graduated from a kidnapping victim facing certain death to a promoter of torture and viciousness herself, but that doesn’t mean there’s a place for her in whatever comes next given the rocky situation of the Bhullar family that is only being further challenged by their developing circumstances in Montana. Denise is taking on a bigger role than ever before as she navigates her connection to Richard and the very bad and dangerous choices he’s making in pursuit of revenge for his son’s death. I’m puzzled by the prominence of a romantic comedy love story on this show, with Mark leading Jerrie on before acknowledging that he’s still into Cassie, and her choosing to make out with him and bring him into the house when he showed up to sort things out. There are life and death things going on, and people are bothering to focus on their love lives when they could be out trying to find the elusive criminals who are somehow much smarter than them. I am glad to see that Poppernak has made a successful recovery, even if he has to endure suspects calling him Deputy Pumpernickel.
