What I’m Watching: Superman and Lois

Superman and Lois: Season 2, Episode 6 “Tried and True” (B+)

It’s interesting to see the other Superman now framed as someone who may not be a villain, though his appearance and the way he communicates certainly do make it difficult to see him as a hero. While Sam still does have some access post-retirement, it remains an unhelpful development since Lieutenant Anderson’s resentment towards Superman has now led him to trap him with Kryptonite and imprison him for treason, a charge that will surely keep him from being the crucial ally to the American people that he needs to be with Ally as a very present threat. Lucy coming to spend time with her nephews and then going to the game with Lois and Sam felt all too normal, and naturally things fell apart before long when she and Lois realized just how at odds they still remain. Before he got locked up, Clark gave Lana some good advice about Kyle, and while it looks like they’re going to be separating for the moment, I’m hopeful that Kyle will give her space but still do everything he can to try to win her back. Jonathan’s competitive spirit is getting the best of him, and Jordan is right to be concerned both about him getting in trouble for what he’s doing and the fact that he has no idea what drugs will do to accelerate the arrival and intensity of his powers. It’s not a good time for their parents and grandfather to be distracted with other more serious things going on in their lives.
